Two teenagers suspected of using a cellphone to record themselves engaging in a sex act were questioned on Wednesday by police in Bogor, West Java, after the video made its way onto the Internet.

Bogor Police’s criminal unit chief, Djasmin Ginting, identified the teenagers only as DA, a 16-year-old female, and LF, a 19-year-old male.

He said that both teenagers had been confined to DA’s parents’ house during the investigation because of their age.

“The case is being handled by Bogor Police’s women and children protection unit because they are still under aged,” Djasmin said. “They are being questioned as witnesses.”

However, Djasmin said both teens could be named as suspects because they had intentionally recorded the video.

He said DA and LF had told officers they made the video in a hotel room in Serpong, Tangerang.

“The video was made one month ago,” Djasmin said, adding that they had used DA’s phone.

He said the couple claimed not to know how the video made its way onto the Internet. However, DA said her cellphone had been broken and she had asked a friend, identified as J, to repair it.

“We will look through their confessions and determine whether J really distributed the video,” he said.

He added that J could be arrested if found to have put the video on the Internet, a crime under the laws on pornography and Internet transactions.

According to Djasmin, the teenagers said they had recorded the video for their personal collection. The 20-minute video has also been distributed from phone to phone in the Rumpin subdistrict of Bogor.

It was reportedly touted as the “Rumpin Version of Ariel-Luna,” referring to the alleged sex tape featuring Peterpan singer Nazril “Ariel” Irham and presenter Luna Maya.
