AirAsia Indonesia Opens Bali-Yogyakarta Route

Tri Listiyarini

AirAsia Indonesia (IAA) launched its maiden flight on the Bali-Yogyakarta route on Friday, the latest of its routes connecting the resort island to domestic and international destinations.

The QZ 8440 flight left Bali’s Ngurah Rai international airport at 6:00 a.m. and the return flight left Yogyakarta’s Adisucipto airport at 6:35 a.m. There is a one-hour time difference between Bali and Yogyakarta.

“From early on we believed that Bali would continue to develop well because this province is one of the entry gates into Indonesia for foreign tourists and is on its own a popular destination for domestic tourists,” IAA president director Dharmadi said in a press release on Friday.

He said the load factor for the maiden flight reached 85 percent for both flights, proving that Bali remains a popular destination.

IAA currently serves four domestic destinations and five international destinations from Bali.

The IAA release said that to mark the occasion, the airline was providing low fares, starting from Rp 159,000 ($16.85) for purchase made between June 8-18 and for travel during June 11- Aug. 10. The fare is not available every day.
