Astra International, the country’s biggest automotive distributor, has received a government award for helping the development of Indonesia’s small and medium enterprises.
Astra, which accepted the honor from the State Ministry for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprise, had Rp 6.8 trillion ($768 million) in combined orders from small and medium companies last year, according to data from the Astra Foundation. Astra’s president director, Prijono Sugiarto, said Astra expected to continue playing a major role in the country’s micro-businesses and SMEs in the coming years.
Shares of Astra rose 3.06 percent to Rp 69,000 on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Monday.
