Police in Bogor’s Bojong Gede subdistrict have arrested a 14-year-old boy for the brutal murder of a father and son.
The suspect, a scavenger who lives in Sawangan, Bogor, is alleged to have killed Jordan Raturamon and his son, Edward Raturamon, 22, on Wednesday.
Bojong Gede Police Chief Bambang Irianto said on Thursday that they were looking for another suspect in the murders, a 24-year-old by the name of Deny.
In addition to arresting one suspect, officers seized a motorcycle, a cellular phone, a watch and a jacket. It was not clear where the items were seized from or if they had been stolen from the victims.
According to the police, the two suspects knew the victims. They said the suspects were at the victims’ house when an argument began. According to the police, the 14-year-old in custody then struck Jordan in the head with a hammer.
“Edward put up a fight but he died after having his throat slit,” Bambang said.
Siswanto, one of the victims’ neighbors, said he heard noises coming from the house at about 1:30 a.m. but didn’t think there was a serious problem. He also saw the suspects’ motorcycle parked in front of the house.
Jordan and Edward were found in the bathroom by 13-year-old Kesha Raturamon, Jordan’s daughter, when she returned home from a school trip.
Wiwi, another neighbor, said she heard Kesha begin screaming at about 11 a.m., after entering her house.
“She was screaming hysterically and said there were bodies in her house,” Wiwi said. “I let myself in and saw the house in complete disarray. I went to the bathroom and saw the bodies in a pool of blood.”
Wiwi said she dragged Kesha out of the house and alerted some neighbors, who contacted the subdistrict police.
The Bojong Gede subdistrict police are investigating the case. Bambang said the victims were likely killed in the living room and then dragged into the bathroom,
He said that based on the condition of the bodies and statements from neighbors, it was believed the victims were killed late at night and that they had already been dead for about 12 hours when the bodies were discovered.
“Both victims happened to be at home while Kesha was away because she had a school activity,” he said.
