Fast-Moving Waters

The breaking of the fast during Ramadan is normally a happy time. Each day at sunset, people gather for large communal meals.

On Tuesday, though, fast-breakers in Padang, West Sumatra, were met with a nasty surprise when floodwaters burst from river banks following heavy rains, sending people fleeing and damaging hundreds of houses.
