Graft Suspect Kartini Sick in KPK Custody
Adding to the ever growing number of graft suspects that have taken ill in custody, Kartini Marpaung, a judge with the Semarang Anti-Corruption Court who allegedly received a bribe from a graft suspect, is reportedly suffering from uric acid.
On Wednesday, a doctor and nurse from Abdi Waluyo hospital in Menteng visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detention center to examine Kartini.
“We were requested to come to check the condition of prisoner at the KPK detention center,” physician Suryoprayitno said, but offered no details on her status.
Kartini allegedly accepted Rp 150 million ($15,750) in bribes to give a favorable ruling to a graft suspect in a corruption case involving the car maintenance budget of the Grobogan Legislative Council (DPRD Grobogan) in Central Java.
Alleged middleman Sri Dartuti and Judge Heru Kisbandono of the Pontianak Anti-Corruption Court have also been arrested.
Kartini’s illness puts her among the sickly ranks of Muhammad Nazaruddin and his wife Neneng Sri Wahyuni, Angelina Sondakh and Nunun Nurbaeti.
