Jakarta Police have arrested three suspects in the death of an Acehnese consultant in a drunken squabble outside Cafe 999, Kemang, South Jakarta.

“Three men have been caught,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said in a text message to Detik.com on Monday.

The initials of the perpetrators are I.B. (23), P.M. (25) and M.D.

According to police, at around 4 a.m. on Sunday, 38-year old Ahmad Zaedani Noor left Cafe 999 with his girlfriend and two friends. In the parking lot, they encountered a group of about 10 people.

“They
brushed against each other, and then they argued and fought. The victim
was stabbed,” South Jakarta Police chief of detectives Adj. Sr. Comr.
Hermawan said on Sunday, adding that both the perpetrators and
victims were drunk.

Hermawan said that according to witnesses, before the fight, one of the perpetrators
said to the victim, “Do you know me?” The victim replied “no.”

The victim was stabbed in the ensuing tussle, and the perpetrator disposed the knife in
the cafe’s parking lot afterwards. The victim’s girlfriend, Sara, suffered bruises on her arms and lips.

“Even the parking officer
was afraid to step in to try to stop it. It all happened so quickly,” Hermawan said.

Mampang Police chief Comr. Siswono said Ahmad and Sara were about to get married.

The incident in Kemang was just one of two fatal violent incidents in South Jakarta over the weekend.

At around 5 a.m. on Sunday, 13-year old Pebri Fajar was on his way home with his friends when they encountered another group of teenagers on motorcycles along Jalan Madrasah Raya, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

“The victim was suddenly attacked by the perpetrators who were around the same age, also teenagers,” Cilandak Police Chief Comr. Nuredy Iriawan said on Sunday.

Pebri and his four friends tried to escape, but Pebri fell down and was attacked with machetes.

The perpetrators left him severely injured. His friends rushed him to Fatmawati hospital, but he died on the way.

“One of the victim’s friends was also injured and currently hospitalized,” Nuredy said.

Five witnesses have been questioned in this case but no one has been arrested yet.
