The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested seven people on Wednesday, including an American national, while they were allegedly transacting a bribe at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang.
Two of the seven people are officers with the airport’s customs and excise office, according to information gathered by Beritasatu.com.
KPK chief Abraham Samad refused to provide details of the arrest, saying only that KPK investigators caught the alleged perpetrators in the act.
“We’ve secured Rp 150 million ($15,900) in cash as evidence,” Abraham said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The US national, identified only as Andrew, was seen arriving at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon, escorted by a KPK investigator.
He refused to say anything on the matter.
