Lawmakers Who Miss Sessions Can Expect to Be Shamed

Legislators who skip two plenary meetings in a row will be named and shamed in the media, the House of Representatives’ Ethics Council said on Tuesday.

Muhammad Prakosa, the council chairman, said if the absentees did not have a valid excuse, or if they were found to have asked a colleague to sign in for them, they would be given a warning letter and their names would be published in the media.

He added that to enforce the policy, the Ethics Council would study both CCTV footage of the meetings and the attendance log from the fingerprint readers that legislators are supposed to scan.
