Olympic Commitee Asks for Probe of Indonesian Badminton Coaches
London. The IOC is asking the Chinese, South Korean and Indonesian national Olympic committees to investigate the coaches of the badminton players who were disqualified for trying to lose matches.
IOC spokesman Mark Adams says “we have asked the NOCs to look into the entourage issue” to determine whether team coaches, trainers or officials should also be punished.
Four women’s doubles teams were kicked out of the competition on Wednesday after playing badly in pool matches to secure a more favorable draw in the next round.
Adams says the national committees are in the process of taking away the players’ accreditations, removing them from the athletes village and sending them home.
He says he hopes a”line has been drawn” under the matter.Associated Press
