Police Shoot Malaysian Citizen in Drug Bust
Indonesian police shot and killed a Malaysian citizen named Bong Ah Sam on Friday night after he was caught with crystal methamphetamine and shot at officers.
“We shot him because he fought back,” Comr. Gen. Sutarman, the National Police chief of detectives, said on Saturday.
Police began their search for Bong after they arrested another suspect named ECI who was in possession of two grams of crystal meth on Friday night. ECI reportedly told police they could find Bong in a Mall of Indonesia apartment in Kelapa Gading, East Jakarta.
“[We] found two kilograms of crystal meth and two bottles of around 1.7 liter of liquid crystal meth,” Sutarman said. “Bong took his firearm . . . and shot at police officers but missed, hitting the wall.”
Police officers said they shot Bong in his chest killing him instantly.
