Will she or won’t she? The production company currently in hot water for plans to import Japanese porn star Maria Ozawa, better known as Miyabi, to Indonesia will decide today whether to fly her in.

“We will decide where the movie set will be. There is a possibility that it will not be done here in Indonesia, but in Japan,” Oddi Mulya Hidayat from Maxima Pictures said on Sunday. “But that’s only a possibility. We still have another option for the set. It’s in Bali.”

He said Miyabi had been scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Wednesday, but due to the negative reaction from the public, this might be delayed, or they might decide to change the venue of the shoot.

He added that the company would consider public opinion when making its decision. On Friday, about 50 members of the Islam Defenders Front went to the office of Maxima Pictures to protest the planned involvement of porn star in the movie.

The one thing the film producers are sure of is that Miyabi will be starring in the film “Menculik Miyabi” (“Kidnapping Miyabi”), a comedy about two college students who hatch a plan to kidnap the actress.

Reacting to reports that Miyabi would not be participating in the film because the production house didn’t have enough money to pay her, Oddi said all contracts have been finalized with the Japanese star. He said people who wanted to see the movie should not be concerned, because his team had wrapped up negotiations last week.

“Our team flew to Japan to meet Miyabi’s management last week, from Wednesday to Thursday, so we settled everything,” he said. “However, I cannot give you any figures, because we don’t have the Japanese partner’s permission.”

He said Miyabi’s managers were concerned about news of protests in Jakarta over her visit.

“But we have told them that we are ready with any risks and gave them a guarantee that everything will be under control here,” he said.

Meanwhile, the publicity surrounding the porn star’s arrival has been a boon for pirated DVD vendors in Glodok, West Jakarta.

News Web site Kompas.com quoted a vendor, Anton, as saying sales of Miyabi’s porn movies had shot up from just 10 or 20 per day to 50 since news of her arrival. Another vendor, Edi, told Kompas he could sell up to 100 per day. “DVD sales turnover of just Miyabi could reach Rp 1 million [$106] per day,” Edi said.
