The Big Durian is kicking off 2012 with a serious line up of international big shots, from the super hip band Foster the People to the edgy pop star Katy Perry. Concluding the month of January, award-winning singer-songwriter Rod Stewart will also be performing in Jakarta.

Indonesia has been officially listed on Stewart’s tour itinerary, and “The Greatest Hits” tour will start in the capital before continuing to cities in Australia. No other Asian destinations have been listed yet.

Last year, the British musician released “Fly Me to the Moon…The Great American Songbook Volume V,” his latest and fifth installment of his Songbook series, a collection of pop standards and covers. The album includes timeless tracks such as “Moon River,” “Fly Me to the Moon” and “When I Fall in Love”, among many others.

The first Songbook series, “It Had to Be You: the Great American Songbook”, was released in 2002, and reached No. 4 on the US Billboard Top 200. Stewart won his first ever Grammy Award for the third volume and for the album series he has been collaborating with other big names like Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, Diana Ross and Elton John.

In 2006, Stewart also released a rock album titled “Still the Same…Great Rock Classics of our Time”, which topped the Billboard album chart at No. 1, and in 2009, he released “Soulbook,” a collection of 60s and 70s soul favorites, which debuted at No. 4.

Stewart entered the music industry with The Jeff Beck Group and then Faces. He launched his solo career in 1969. Stewart was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and UK Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
