Woman Arrested for Wearing Fake Police Uniform at Soekarno-Hatta Airport
A police officer on Tuesday unmasked a woman who was illegally posing as a fellow cop at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said Sr. Comr. Sriyani just happened to be at the airport when she notice another woman in full police uniform, but with lapels of the wrong color.
“She was asked why she was wearing a red lapel that is specifically for generals, and she was asked to produce her police card. She could not,” Rikwanto said.
He said the woman, identified only as Susan, later told a police interrogator that she was wearing the uniform to show off.
“When she was spotted, she was seeing off her family, who were going out of town,” Rikwanto said.
It was unclear whether the family knew she was not a policewoman.
Susan, who was arrested at the IID terminal, is being detained at the airport police station, Rikwanto said. She told police that she had bought the uniform at the Senen market in Central Jakarta.
Rikwanto said Susan will face charges of wearing unauthorized rank insignia, a violation of the penal code that carries up to two years in jail.
