It was only a couple of days ago that I fell asleep during an Apple keynote, the first one without Steve Jobs on stage. This morning, my sleepy eyes were suddenly wide open when news about Steve Jobs’ death broke. I wonder if I would feel this sad if I was not an avid Apple user?

Google dominated the tech news this week with their announcement that they had already reached 10 million users on Google+. As the service rolled out to more and more users, once in awhile we heard comments about "yet another facility to connect with friends."

It is difficult not to mock Google's latest attempt to join the social media world. Ever since the tech giant launched its Google+ project on Tuesday, the world's tech writers have been voicing their pessimism about this “yet another Google product.” Somebody even set up a Web site, isgoogleplusdead.com, that only contains one word: “Yes.” But this also applies to another equally important question: Is it too early for us to be disappointed?

Sweden’s popular high street fashion shop, H&M, is looking forward to getting in touch with the Southeast Asian market. On my recent visit to Singapore to cover Asia Fashion Exchange 2011, H&M invited fashion editors and writers to a store preview at Wisma Atria on Orchard Road. The Singapore shop branch, the first one in Southeast Asia, is scheduled to open in September.

As the world becomes increasingly connected through the growing popularity of social media, our days and nights may no longer be as quiet and peaceful as they used to be.
