Ford Motor Indonesia, a local unit of the American car manufacturing giant, launched its newest pickup, the All New Ford Ranger, in the Indonesian market in Jakarta on Thursday.
Bagus Susanto, managing director of Ford Motor Indonesia, said late on Thursday that the new Ranger was the first built with the “One Ford” strategy and is a “truck offering quality, fuel-efficiency, safety and sophisticated technology all in one package.”
The new model will be available for the Indonesian market in single cabin, double cabin and RAS cabin.
Bagus said he was optimistic about the market for pickup trucks in Indonesia, a country of 240 million people that has proven fertile ground for auto makers.
“Up to the end of June, we have received more than 1,500 orders from Ford dealerships around the country and about 900 of them have been shipped for delivery,” Bagus said.
The market for pickups in Indonesia is dominated by commercial consumers, including mining and plantation companies.
Bagus explained that more than 40 percent of the orders received are for the most luxurious model, the Ranger XLT double cabin, equipped with the most complete and sophisticated features.
