The Finance Ministry plans to auction sukuk , or Islamic-compliant bonds, starting in mid-October to help finance the government’s budget deficit.
Dahlan Siamat, who is in charge of Islamic-compliant debt at the ministry, said on Friday that it plans to hold at least three such auctions by the end of the year.
The ministry had said it hopes to raise Rp 1 trillion ($100.7 million) in the October issue. The government is Rp 18 trillion short of its bond target of Rp 144.5 trillion for the year.
