JPMorgan Asset Management is selling government bonds to buy the debt of high-yield and investment-grade Asian companies, betting economic growth in the region will spur higher returns than in the United States and Europe.
“If I look at my Asian Total Return Bond Fund, government exposure is about 20 percent. The rest is corporate,” Stephen Chang, head of fixed-income, said from Hong Kong. Asian companies are in better shape and yield more than similarly rated counterparts in US and European markets, he said.
Asian dollar bonds have returned 26 percent over the past 12 months.
