The Jakarta Composite Index rose 80.47 points or 2.2 percent, to 3,701.14 at the midday break.
Shares gained amid optimism that euro zone leaders are close to an agreement to keep Greece from default and are likely to devise a plan that will prevent their region’s debt crisis from worsening.
Markets across Asia also rose, with the Hang Seng Index up almost 4 percent in Hong Kong, and the Nikkei 225 index 1.4 percent higher in Japan.
