State-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina suffered $30 million in losses from a fire at its refineries in Cilacap, Central Java, early last month, a Pertamina official reported on Monday.

“We are still in the process of claiming compensation from insurance,” Pertamina's acting director for processing affairs Rukmi  Hadihartini told a House of Representatives Commission VII hearing.

Pertamina is insured by PT Tugu Pratama, which is also a subsidiary of the state-owned firm.

Following an investigation, Rukmi said, Pertamina discharged four managers in connection with the fire — namely refinery managers for production, maintenance and technical affairs.

According to the investigation, the fire was caused by a technical error.

On April 2-3, 2011 three fuel oil tanks of Pertamina in Cilacap, Central Java, caught fires. The fire was put out on April 6, 2011.
