Bank Indonesia may not raise interest rates in the first half of 2010 because the economy isn’t facing any “inflationary pressure,” said Hartadi A Sarwono, a deputy governor of the central bank. “It seems inflation is still within our expected range, so the pressure to increase interest rates isn’t so big,” he said on Wednesday. “There is no need to worry about consumer-price gains in the first half.”

Month-over-month inflation may slow to 0.45 percent in February from 0.84 percent in January, according to a survey of five economists.
