Rubber Output, Exports Expected to Climb in 2010
Natural rubber production and exports in Indonesia, India and Vietnam are expected to increase this year, according to the December reports by the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries.
According to the association, output in Indonesia, the world’s second-largest producer, may reach 2.68 million tons, up from 2.595 million tons in 2009. Exports may also rise to 2.3 million tons from 2.1 million tons.
Vietnam is expected to produce 680,000 tons, up 4.6 percent from last year, and export all of it, the group said. The country is estimated to have shipped 645,000 tons in 2009.
India’s production may increase by 26,000 tons this year to 848,000 tons. Its shipments may also increase by more than three times to 45,000 tons, the association said.
