Telekomunikasi Indonesia plans to spend Rp 200 billion ($22.4 million) to improve the technology used in its base transceiver stations.

The money will bankroll the introduction to the stations of evolution-data optimized technology, which accelerates data speeds, the company’s president director, Rinaldi Firmansyah, said in Denpasar on Wednesday. The company, known as Telkom, already has 1,100 BTSs with the new technology.

Shares of Telkom rose 0.7 percent to Rp 7,350 on the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Wednesday. That gain pared the fall for the year to 8 percent.
