Sinar Mas Land held a soft opening for The Breeze BSD City, a new lifestyle mall in BSD City, an integrated township in Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday.

“The Breeze BSD City is ready to operate, thanks to the progress of development that runs in line with target. Tenants occupying [the mall] already reached 70 percent,” said Ishak Chandra, managing director for corporate strategy and services at Sinar Mas Land.

Sinar Mas Land, the holding company of a number of Sinar Mas’s property units, is part of diversified conglomerate Sinar Mas Group, which was founded by Eka Tjipta Widjaya.

The open air mall, built on 13.5 hectares, has attracted a number of tenants from a supermarket operator, restaurants, electronic shops, a fitness center operator, an entertainment center operator, spa as well as beauty clinics.

“Tenants that occupy The Breeze BSD City have undergone selection process,” said Teky Mailoa, chief executive of asset management at Sinar Mas Land. He added that the company aims to deliver comfortable nuance at the mall — which can hold as many as 800 cars in its parking structure — with a Lifestyle Center theme.

Sinar Mas Land, formerly known as AFP Properties Limited, is listed on Singapore’s stock exchange and is headquartered in Singapore.

The company is engaged in property businesses via its business units in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and China.

In Indonesia, it controls Bumi Serpong Damai and Duta Pertiwi, two of the top property companies in the country.

These companies hold substantial interest in developing townships and cities, building residential housing, apartments, shopping centers, hotels, office buildings and industrial estates.

Sinar Mas Land, which has more than 50 projects that have been developed in Indonesia, controls more than 10,000 hectares of land.

Some of its signature projects include BSD City and Kota Deltamas, an integrated township that is situated on more than 1,000 hectares. Other offerings include residential areas, commercial developments and education centers.

Sinar Mas Land was also the developer of some of the busiest shopping centers in Indonesia, including ITC Mangga Dua, ITC Cempaka Mas and ITC Roxy Mas.
