Who You Need to be to Achieve Your Goals
Do you ask these questions: “Who must I become to achieve my goals?” or “What type of person must I be in order to achieve my goals?”
Right after a goal-setting exercise, do you ask these questions: “Who must I become to achieve my goals?” or “What type of person must I be in order to achieve my goals?”
The process to achieve your goals doesn’t stop at knowing what you want. Clarity is a good start and the second step is really transforming yourself to be the type of person that will achieve or deserves to have those goals.
For instance, if your goal is to lose 10 kg, most likely there are habits and mindsets you will need to build and those you need to throw out. So, if your goal is to lose weight, then ask yourself, “Who do you need to be to achieve it?”
Answers may include some of these things: I need to be more disciplined, I need to be the type of person who likes to exercise, I need to like eating healthy, etc.
If you have already become that type of person, then doing the things you need to do to achieve your goal becomes much easier. If your goal is to have a bigger business, then who do you need to be to achieve that? Perhaps it’s becoming a person who loves to learn from other people, or being a better listener, or becoming a better leader to your team, or sometimes just simply believing that a bigger business is possible for you.
We are not human doing, we’re human beings. Just a short mental note as you set your next goals. Think not only what you need to do, but also who you need to be in order to achieve them.
Make it a great week.
