Traffic has backed up in Central Jakarta's notoriously jammed Tanah Abang area as drivers struggle to adapt to newly designated one-way streets.
The new one way traffic flow applies to the following blocks:
1. Jalan Jatibaru from the Jalan Cideng intersection to Jalan Abdul Muis/Jalan Fachrudin.
2. Jalan Fachrudin from the corner of Jalan Kebon Sirih, where Hotel Millenium is located, to the Jalan Fachrudin/Tanah Abang Underpass.
3. Jalan Terusan Cideng, from the intersection of Jalan Fachrudin/Tanah Abang Underpass to the intersection of Jalan Jatibaru/Jalan Cideng.
In addition, right turns are prohibited at the intersection of Jalan Abdul Muis/Jalan Kebon Sirih. Right turns and continuing straight are also prohibited from Jalan Cideng Timur.
Right turns are not allowed at the intersection of Jalan Cideng/Jalan Jatibaru from the Kiapang Flyover. Drivers are prohibited to go straight from Jalan Cideng Timur.
The new traffic flow began on Thursday. Police said earlier that it is aimed at reducing the area's chronic congestion.
