Zimbabwe captain Prosper Utseya said his team was always confident it could upset the West Indies in Sunday’s historic Twenty20 International at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The visitors, choosing to bat first, fought back from no runs for three wickets in the third over to post a modest 105 from 19.5 overs in the first T20 International between the two sides. Zimbabwe’s spinners then frustrated the West Indies, which fell 26 runs short of the target.
Zimbabwe is emerging from a four-year moratorium on test cricket. The two sides now play five one-day internationals, with the first scheduled for Thursday at Guyana National Stadium.
