Jakarta's Andara Rainy is Miss Tourism Indonesia 2009
Andara Rainy of Jakarta was crowned Miss Tourism Indonesia 2009 at JITEC Mangga Dua Square on Saturday night. The 21-year-old was chosen as the winner from 37 finalists from 33 provinces. Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik attended the event and crowned the winner.
Andara may be a familiar face for many. She won the None Jakarta 2007 beauty pageant, becoming an ambassador for the capital city and promoting its tourism potential in a number of countries, including Australia, Turkey and South Korea.
As the winner of the Miss Tourism Indonesia title, Andara will represent the country at the upcoming Miss Tourism International pageant. She also received a number of prizes, including Rp 36 million ($3,800), a one-year lease on an apartment at Permata Hijau Residence and a scholarship from Jakarta’s London School of Public Relations.
Rieke Caroline from Jakarta was first runner-up and Erika Adam of Aceh was second runner-up. Central Kalimantan’s Veronica Taradifa won the title for “Most Talented.”
