Exceptionally well said DrDez. Maybe the JG could get you to write an opinion piece as it seems that not only have you seen a lot, but you also have some great insight into what's happening here.

Purebred

Yet another unsolicited attack... get help my dear chap you really need some

Re his extra degrees NOT entered onto the UI log - how do you know if they are or are not?

Do you have experience of falsification of documents? You seem to know a lot about it.

When we tried to pursue the case with the UI by the way they just stayed quiet - they didn't even try to make an excuse. Yes someone inside knew most probably but that’s not uncommon you seem to imply?

Most of my observations are about people who do things that hurt other people. That is particularly sour for me when religion is used to justify oppression, hate and violence as we see sadly all too often. I am particularly vocal about Arabic trends Purebred because having lived and worked in the ME I am more than aware of the caustic nature of their people and how it made them into vengeful and violent people.

The day you accept there is an issue within this nation insofar as the Arabic influence destroying your heritage, your culture and using your religion to do so then that will be a great day for you. But I won’t hold my breath.

Let me be very clear - I have lived in Indonesia many years of which the majority of those I have been married to my wife – I have lived through regime changes and untellable violence, political and military intrigue and more state sponsored deaths than I care to think about. That was just pre 1998.

With the fall of Surharto I truly felt Indonesia would come of age and blossom into a global player, I felt we would as a nation banish the demons of corruption and illegality and would develop the tolerance and well-being for all the people of Indonesia. What I have witnessed instead is a rapid growth of militia based violence, thuggery if you will, that uses Islam to justify its power game – I have witnessed the power brokers stoke hatred and create violence for their own gain, I have seen a new new order in terms of corruption and judicial fallacy, I have witnessed the gentle people of Indonesia becoming a mob and worst of all I have witnessed good men and women hide away whilst these people doing what they have done. I am sick and tired of the phrase ‘he cannot be a Muslim because Muslims are forbidden to xyz’ because they are doing xyz and probably abc too. You may maintain your denial and blame Christians or the Dutch or even me because I really care little, but one day and not too soon your elite (political and religious) will be forced to wake up to the beast they have created because my dear boy that beast has become a monster. It is driving you headlong into the arabization of this nation and when the elite try to reel it in, it will as usual it will be the normal, decent Indonesian who suffers.

You pretend to care about Indonesia but actually I think that you do not. What you care about is your gods primacy and all else seems secondary. Your silence in such issues as corruption, violence, is remarkable and your defense of the indefensible is astonishing. You are blind to the hatred that your Arabic inspired religious friends are creating - instead you choose to play the victim

Purebred you are in my view a disgrace and embarrassment to your nation. Grow up and take some responsibility before it’s too late.

DrDez it is a case of he (with the help of someone) was falsifying his graduation certificates.. anyone with a PC and a printer, photoshop and scanner can do it in 30 minutes. How difficult it is really to print a lookalike certificate? A real problem would be if his 3 false UI degrees was actually entered in formal UI records, which it is not.

So you are like a CEO of a company? how come your reading comprehension and understanding of events around you is so lacking? Most of your complaints in this site is due to you misunderstand things and then take it to the extreme negative..

The numbers are in for the 2011 World University Rankings and the results for Indonesian universities were mixed with an overall slip in this year’s survey.

The University of Indonesia placed as the country’s top university improving an impressive 19 places from its 2010 ranking to land at number 217 on the annual Quacquarelli Symonds survey. Universitas Gadjah Mada, the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Airlangga University all made the top 600 cut but fell in ranking.

“The University of Indonesia’s strength is underpinned by its good performance in three out of the six indicators of the rankings, especially with its reputation among international employers, which has improved considerably, in the international faculty ratio indicator and in the international students’ ratio,” said Ben Sowter, head of research at QS, in a news release.

“The other Indonesian universities ranked have slipped but it is worth remembering that rankings are relative — for each institution that moves up another have to move down. Underlying metrics suggest that global standards against many of our measures are improving, so a university actually has to get better to stay in the same place.”

The QS rankings, in its eighth year of publication, are based on six indicators: academic reputation and employer reputation, both based on surveys, citations per faculty, the faculty to student ratio, the proportion of international students and the proportion of international faculty. This year’s rankings were based on surveys of 33,744 academics and 16,785  employers — the largest survey response pools to date.

The University of Cambridge topped the list for a second year in a row followed by American universities Harvard, MIT and Yale with British university Oxford rounding out the top five. At rank 17, McGill University in Canada was the top non-American or British school while the University of Hong Kong, at 22, took the top spot slot for an Asian university.

Universitas Gadjah Mada, ranked 321 in the 2010 survey, fell to the 342 slot this year. The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) ranked in the 451-500 range for 2011, falling from the 401-450 range, while Airlangga University fell to the 551-600 range from the 451-500 range. There are an additional four Indonesian universities in the 601+ band ranking range.

“There are a number of Indonesian universities very committed to improve their standards and their global competitiveness but it is important to recognize that their primary focus remains to serve the domestic students and their emphasis is on teaching over research,” said Nunzio Quacquarelli, QS managing director.

“To develop the latter, while providing more access to university to a demographically young and densely populated country, more substantial funding – both from the government and the private sectors is required. Nevertheless, since it is estimated that there are approximately 20,000 universities globally, Indonesia can count four of its institutions among the top 3 percent elite of world-class universities in the world.”
