I recall not so many months ago the minister of education was outraged and demanded equal t&C's at a well known international school.. now it seems he is more guilty than the school since this is governed in law not just market rates....

Hundreds of lecturers and general employees of the prestigious University of Indonesia (UI) demonstrated in front of the Ministry of National Eduction on Wednesday to demand they be given full rights as government employees.

About 200 staff demanded they be promoted to full government employee status, in-line with Government Decree No. 66/2010 that guarantees their rights.

“We were taught about good governance but is UI ready to apply it,” rally leader Irwansyah of UI’s faculty of social and political sciences said. “If it is, the first step has to be to promote all employees to civil officers.”

The demonstrators were granted an interview with Djoko Santoso, the National Education Ministry’s director general for secondary and higher education.

The meeting is still ongoing.
