492083Haha good article & good lesson to prestige brands. Lesson learned from when I was much younger, never look down on anybody that walked into ur store. One customer walked in my store in the early days with holes in her clothes, sandals, unkept hair, & with skin problem (turned out she had leukemia her skin color turned to uneven white patches), my employees looked at her as a diseased beggar and didn't dare even to come close to talk to her. Seeing nobody is serving her, I walk up to serve her & asked how I could help her, how did it end up?? My largest customer ever, she died from her sickness, her company still continue to do business with me years after her death. Now I do this for fun, I'll dress up crappy when i want to buy things, whoever serve the poor looking ppl like me I'll buy, whoever doesn't I'll skip. Put ur prejudice aside, ur prejudice is ur loss & ur burden, we (edit) & fart the same as everybody else.
As much as I like to see fashion industry growing, I just don't love the materialistic nature of it. We can feel when we enter prestige/high-end boutique, the staff will be very investigative about how we look, as if we do not have enough money to buy.
Somehow, people are being fine about it. Maybe it's the way they build their brand exclusively.
But for me, it is not okay.
This kind of fashion culture has slowly roots into the general society.
It stimulates forced exclusivity, materialistic behavior, and hedonism esp. among youngsters.

Italian clothing chain Dolce & Gabbana on Wednesday apologized to the people of Hong Kong for allegedly discriminating against them in favor of wealthy mainland shoppers.
The company's flagship Hong Kong store has been the focus of protests and online rage after it allegedly instructed security guards to prevent locals from taking photographs while allowing mainlanders and foreigners to do so.
Locals accused the fashion house of "mainlandism" and started a Facebook page protesting against the store's abuse of their rights.
Dolce & Gabbana has previously rejected the criticism but in a statement stuck on the storefront overnight Tuesday and sent to journalists on Wednesday it said it accepted that it was in the wrong.
"We understand that the events which unfolded in front of the Dolce & Gabbana boutique on Canton Road have offended the citizens of Hong Kong, and for this we are truly sorry and we apologize," it said.
"The Dolce & Gabbana policy is to welcome the Hong Kong people and that of the whole world respecting the rights of each individual and of the local laws."
The rapid expansion of personal wealth in China has fueled growth in the luxury sector in Hong Kong, a favorite destination for mainland shoppers to splurge on Western designer goods.
But many Hong Kongers grumble that the foreign luxury stores that line the city's shopping streets perpetrate a form of "luxury hegemonism" in favour of mainlanders and Western tourists.
Reactions to the apology on the Facebook protest page were mainly negative.
"We do not accept D&G's apology statement. It lacks sincerity. Everyone should write to the European Union to complain and demand that D&G be held accountable for racism," wrote one user, Netizen Eric Lo.
Another said: "The statement was released so sneakily -- they did not admit their mistakes. It lacks sincerity, please everyone, do not accept their apology."
