Persib Bandung climbed to fourth place in the Indonesian Super League after beating Persija Jakarta 1-0 at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium on Sunday.

A controversial penalty from Miljan Radovic in the 17th minute was enough to give host Persib its first win in five games against bitter rival Persija.

Persib now has 18 points from 10 matches while Persija stayed ninth in the league table with 13 points from seven matches.

Referee Olehadi gave Persib a penalty after a cross from Atep appeared to hit Persija midfielder Amarzukih’s hand inside the box. Persija players protested, but the referee stood firm.

Montenegrin midfielder Radovic sent goalkeeper Andritany Ardhiyasa the wrong way, signaling the end of Persija’s three-match winning streak.

On Saturday, league leader Persipura Jayapura beat Sriwijaya FC 2-1 at Mandala Stadium to build a three-point edge over second-place and Papua rival Persiwa Wamena.

Liberian midfielder Zah Rahan gave the Black Pearls the lead in the 33rd minute. The match looked set for a draw when Ahmad Juprianto headed in an equalizer for the visitor in the 81st, but Brazilian striker Alberto Goncalves gave Persipura the lead for good two minutes later.

“We were unlucky to lose the match,” Sriwijaya coach Kashartadi said. “We lost a bit of concentration after scoring the equalizer and Persipura punished us with the deciding goal.”

Persipura leads the ISL with 23 points after 10 matches. Persiwa beat Persiram Raja Ampat 3-0 in a Papuan derby on Saturday to stay second, one point ahead of third-place Sriwijaya.

Also on Saturday, Pelita Jaya climbed to seventh with a 4-1 home rout of PSPS Pekanbaru, while Arema Indonesia was held 0-0 by visiting PSAP Sigli.
