The Jakarta Schools Football League program came to a close on Saturday with the Greenfields Cup Finals and the Gala Awards event.
The five finals were all very close affairs with the U-12 match between Sekolah Tiara Bangsa and Jakarta International School going to a sudden-death penalty shootout. Tiara Bangsa eventually prevailed and added to that success by also securing the U-8 title, edging past the British International School A team 3-2, with the winning goal coming two minutes from time.
BIS fared better in the U-10 co mpetition, however, winning the Cup with a 3-1 victory over SDI Al Azhar in what proved to be a game of two halves. BIS looked comfortable early on and took a 2-0 lead, only to be pegged back by Al Azhar, which took control of the game toward the end. But with the score tied at 2-2, a glancing header from BIS forward Jeremy Hillock found the net to seal the game and clinch a double for the team, which recently took the league title.
The U-14 final went to script when unbeaten Jakarta International School again proved too strong for archrival BIS A team with a 2-0 victory, the same margin as it achieved in the teams’ league encounter the previous week.
JIS also took the U-16 trophy after beating a resolute Jombang Boys team from the B Division 3-2.
