Oita, Japan. Mitsuo Ogasawara and Daiki Iwamasa scored second-half goals on Sunday to give Kashima Antlers a 2-1 win over Oita Trinita and maintain its seven-point lead in the J-League.
Hiroshi Kiyotake gave Oita a 1-0 lead early in the second half, but the reigning champions equalized in the 61st minute when Ogasawara scored with a right-footed volley from a cross by Takuya Nozawa.
Iwamasa scored 10 minutes later when he picked up a loose ball in the area and fired past goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa.
Ogasawara said his team was relieved to win after the “disappointment” of its AFC Champions League exit.
“I caused trouble for my team, so I’m glad that we won today,” said Ogasawara, who was sent off during Kashima’s loss to FC Seoul on penalty kicks.
Kashima improved to 35 points, seven clear of Albirex Niigata and Urawa Reds. Oita extended its losing streak to 12 league matches.
In other matches, Chong Tese scored in the 87th minute for Kawasaki Frontale to beat Montedio Yamagata 1-0.
Hideo Hashimoto and Yasuhito Endo scored two minutes apart in the second half to give Gamba Osaka a 2-1 win over Yokohama Marinos, while Toshihiro Matsushita accounted for both goals in Niigata’s 2-0 win over Nagoya Grampus.
On Saturday, Edmilson scored a goal and set up another in Urawa’s 2-0 victory over Vissel Kobe, giving Volker Finke’s team its first win in five league matches.
Also on Saturday, Yuta Someya and Hiroki Mizumoto scored to lead Kyoto Sanga to a 2-0 win over Sanfrecce Hiroshima, while Omiya Ardija defeated JEF United Chiba 2-0 with Yoshihito Fujita scoring twice.
Tadanari Lee netted a late winner to give Kashiwa Reysol a 3-2 win over Jubilo Iwata, while Yohei Kajiyama and Naohiro Ishikawa scored for FC Tokyo in a 2-1 victory over Shimizu S-Pulse.
