Agentmacgyver, I have seen wives infected by HIV by their husbands and the children by their mothers. It's not only infecting gay men. You could be infected if you don't practice safe sex. I can be infected if I don't practice safe sex. Your comment show the majority opinion of ignorant Indonesian. Education of sexual reproductive health is the answer to overcome HIV, in addition to better treatment of Injecting Drug Users and HIV positive people. Stigmatizing them won't make HIV disappear from the face of earth. It's here to make people be wiser and act smarter and more responsible. Maybe you need to have someone near and dear to you be HIV positive then you could be wiser and smarter, though I hope it doesn't have to come to that. Openmindedness and more reading on HIV would probably be a better course.
How very insensitive of you "agentmacgyver". I have once heard this term AC/DC used in Indonesia; you may well be Indonesian for having ideas that HIV is only spread among gay men. Whatever it is your comment does not make sense.
Instead of closing cafes, educate the sex workers about safe sex and protecting their anonymous clients while at it.

Denpasar. They might not be related, but a Bali lawmaker said on Monday that the increasing number of people infected with HIV and AIDS on the island is due to the high number of cafes.
Bali Representative Council (DPRD) commission deputy head Ketut Kariyasa Adnyana said the spread of the disease goes along with the spread of cafes to the remote areas of Bali.
“Cafes have spread into remote villages on the island,” Made said. “The condition is worrying because of the high spread of HIV and AIDS. Many of the victims are housewives who got infected from their husbands.”
Bali DPRD commission head Made Arjaya said the sleazy joints were places for undercover prostitution.
“Data shows that 1,000 commercial sex workers in Bali have been infected by HIV and AIDS,” Arjaya said. “Many of them work undercover.”
Arjaya said he appreciated the governor’s firm decision to close down cafes that have been used for prostitution.
While Arjaya called for closing down the cafes, Adnyana said prostitution should be centralized for easier control and observation.
“If cafes are spread in many places, there are even some in residential areas, it is hard to observe them,” he said. “Centralizing the location will make it easier to supervise and control the threat of the disease.”
Another lawmaker, Utami Dwi Suryadi, advised husbands to think twice before going to such cafes.
“If the husband spreads the disease to the wives, who will suffer?” she said. “The children might lose their parents and even their future.”
