Since being introduced early this month, more than 1,500 people have signed up for an electronic train ticket called a Comet that allows monthly unlimited train commuting.
The Comet card was designed to replace a monthly subscription program that had to be manually inspected by train officials. Comet users only need to swipe their cards at a dedicated gate.
“I find it very practical, they look better than the [previous card] and they cost the same,” said 25-year-old train user Yayan from Bogor.
Bogor station chief E.S. Budiman said the new card cost Rp 278,000 ($31) per month and it could be recharged.
