Police confirmed on Saturday that they had arrested gang leader John Kei for alleged involvement in the murder of Tan Hari Tantono, also known as Ayung, the head of Sanex Steel, and disclosed that movie star Alba Fuad, known for her roles in films in the 1980s, was also caught.

City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said police shot John because he resisted arrest. “For now, [Alba Fuad] is not implicated in the murder case but we detained her for questioning,” he said.

The two were nabbed late Friday at C’One Hotel in Pulomas, East Jakarta. During the arrest police confiscated Rp 5 million ($500), cellphones and a crystal meth pipe. Urine tests performed on Alba came back positive for narcotics.

Alba, who is the niece of veteran rocker Ahmad Albar of God Bless, rose to stardom after several starring roles in comedy films with legendary comedy group Warkop DKI. She also had roles in action films such as “Permainan Di Balik Tirai” (“A Game Behind the Curtain,” 1988), “Siluman Kera” (“Monkey Ghost,” 1988), “Rimba Panas” (“Steamy Jungle,” 1988) and “Istri Dari Gunung Merapi II” (“A Wife from Mount Merapi II,” 1990).

On Saturday John said he did not know why police were after him. “Ayung was my friend. How could they accuse me of killing my own friend?” he said, according to tvOne.
