Airport Officers Foil Ecstasy Smuggling Attempt
Customs officials at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have foiled an attempt to smuggle thousands of ecstasy pills to Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The ecstasy pills were sent as a package using the TIKI package delivery service.
“We still haven’t found the perpetrator, we’re still investigating it,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said, as quoted by Jakarta Police’s Communication Center on Monday.
The package was discovered on February 7 at 5 a.m. by cargo X-ray officers. They were suspicious of the package and opened it. Inside, they found 10,354 ecstasy pills.
The sender was written as being Ibu Chintya, with an address in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
The recipient was allegedly named Ruswandi on Jalan Tanjung Bira, Makassar.
“The case is handled by Soekarno-Hatta Police,” Boy said.
