Indonesian Ministry of Transportation says a missing passenger plane has been found intact in a North Sumatra mountain range, raising hopes that 18 people aboard are alive.

“The plane was found intact, the wings were not broken, at 3,500 feet high in the Bohorok mountain range,” said Herry Bhakti Gumay, director general of aviation transportation at the ministry.

“We hope that all the passengers and crew are alive because the plane was not damaged.”

He said the fate of the 15 passengers and three crew was unknown.

Emergency crews are hurrying to the scene, about 26 kilometers West of Medan, the provincial capital of North Sumatra.
