Bali Father Kills Baby in Fit of Rage

A father who killed his five-month-old daughter by throwing her repeatedly onto the floor said on Thursday that he did so because the baby was crying and interrupted his sleep.

I Komang Jati, 22, of Antiga village in Karangasem district, Bali, told police that his wife had gone out, leaving him at home with their baby, Ni Luh Sriani.

When his daughter started crying, Komang threw her onto the floor twice. The baby continued crying and he threw her again, killing her. Komang’s father-in-law saw the incident and reported him to the police, according to Detik.com.

A spokesman for Bali Police said Komang’s mother, Ni Nengah Simpen, went to check on the baby and found Sriani’s head bruised and swollen. The baby was no longer breathing after suffering fatal injuries to her head and back.

“I threw her on the floor because she would not stop crying. I wanted to kill her, but now I’m sorry,” Komang told police.

The police said that they would carry out psychological tests on Komang.
