A malfunction at the city’s main power station disrupted the power supply to some neighborhoods in Jakarta on Friday night.
“Blackout hits Pasar Minggu, Bandengan and Kapuk because of a disruption in what we call the medium-voltage network system,” said Rustana, a customer service staffer with the Jakarta branch of state-owned electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara.
He declined to give an estimate of how many homes and businesses were affected, but added: “When a disruption hits a main relay station, it may affect many homes.”
Rustana said that maintenance crews had been deployed to fix the problem, but added that it was uncertain how long repairs would take.
