A 12-year-old boy in Palu, Central Sulawesi, has died after his friend accidentally shot him on Monday.
Wandy Ariatmo was rushed to Bhayangkara Hospital after suffering a gunshot to the head, newsportal Detik.com reported. He remained in a coma for seven hours before passing away on Monday night.
The shooter, G, a first-year junior high school student, and Wandy were playing with their friends at G's house when G took his father's revolver. His father is a police officer.
Palu's Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Deden Garnada said G took the bullets out of the revolver before showing his friends how to use the gun.
However, when he pulled the trigger, a bullet was shot and hit Wandy right in the head.
“We haven't questioned the perpetrator yet because he is still in a shock. He's been crying,” Deden said.
G's father, Second Brig. Guntur, has already been questioned.
