Running away to Bali to study electronic voting systems. You guys, whether you know it or not are public servants, not public masters. You have responsibilities in the midst of this natural disaster. Mind you, you are probably useless and incompetent at whatever you do, so maybe its better you're not around. Of course, you should not be receiving a salary any longer, either.

Enjoy your holiday in Bali.

Should be pretty safe in Bali though, it's a long way from Mt Merapi.

Aah, moonlit beaches, evenings by the pool, electronic voting systems.

You can't beat it.

Jakarta. As more than 20,000 people from the district of Boyolali in Central Java huddle in shelters as Mount Merapi continues its deadly eruptions, the deputy head of the district and the senior civilian protection official are heading to the resort island of Bali on an official trip.

Tanthowi Jauhari, deputy speaker of the Boyolali Legislative Council (DPRD), said it was regrettable that deputy head Agus Purmanto and Sumantri DM, the head of the National Unity, Politics and Public Protection (Kebangpolinmas) unit, were leaving the disaster-struck regency for Bali to study electronic voting systems.

Tanthowi, from the National Mandate Party, labeled Agus, from the National Awakening Party (PKB), and Sumantri as “stubborn” for leaving in the middle of the disaster.

He also said that district head Seno Samodro should be held accountable for letting both men go.

Tanthowi said Seno’s argument that the government had to keep on working despite the disaster was irrelevant.

He said there were large numbers of refugees who had been separated from their families.

“There are a lot of volunteers from outside of Boyolali coming to help the victims but those who are most responsible simply don’t care,” he said.
