A member of the Papua Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) was killed after a shootout with an unknown group of people near the giant Freeport-operated Grasberg Mine in Papua at about 7 a.m. this morning.

The deceased was identified as Ronald Tupamena. His body has been taken to Kuala Kencana Clinic in Timika for identification.

Mimika Police are at the crime scene in Nayaro, a district in Mimika, along with Freeport security personnel.
