Bali. Police in Bali are baffled by the discovery of the body of a Caucasian man found at Uluwatu Beach in the Badung district on Tuesday.
The police allege that the man, found semi-naked with his head crushed, was the victim of a murder.
“We didn't find any identity on the body and it hampers the identification process,” the director of Bali Water Police, Adj. Sr. Comr. Oka Eswara, said on Wednesday.
According to Oka, the body was found by a local fisherman and police later took the body to Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar for an autopsy.
The head of the hospital's forensic department, Ida Bagus Putu Alit, said the victim was 170 centimeters tall, had blond hair and he was between the ages of 25 to 35.
He had suffered injuries to his face and his thighs.
“The cause of death was the injury to his face,” Alit said, adding that the injury occurred before the victim's death and before he had entered the water.
Oka urged locals and tourists with missing relatives who fit the description to contact the police.
“We are also communicating with foreign consulates and hopefully the victim's identity will be revealed soon,” Oka said.
