499124in the Komplex were i live in Tajur Bogor there is a similar type of bridge been used,i also find this dangerous as i walk my dogs in this area, the local kampung community have approached and i have freely given cash in order to reconstruct a new bamboo bridge, this bridge enables local people from the kampung to get to work and for the children to get to school,i do believe the local government should in part be responsible for these bridges...rather than have the kampung community have to come around door to door in the Komplex asking for money, the fact is there that bamboo rots and people fall in to the water and die..the constant rain in bogor does not help as this speeds up the rot process.i no longer use this bridge preferring now to take the long way around to walk my dogs, but i am only waiting for the news that this bridge also has fallen as so many others have done.
the kampung community relies quite allot on government help and for these bridges to be repaired, please do so ...
Not looking good is it.
4th bridge collapse in 2012???? sheesh
Tragic. They really should take a look at these rickety bridges. These are strong, strong rivers in the rainy season, a ten year old would have no chance.

Bogor. A bamboo bridge in Cibanteng, Bogor, collapsed on Sunday, leaving one person killed and seven others still missing, all of whom were swept away by the strong current of the river underneath, a survivor said.
The search for victims has been called off temporarily because of swift currents, the district chief said.
Abdul Fatah, 60, who survived the collapse, said the bridge was full with children going to a Koranic recital. He said the majority of the missing were between 10 and 12 years old.
“The probability is that as the last group was on the bridge. It may not have been able to support the load and immediately collapsed,” Abdul said.
The last group of 23 people had come from Cibanteng village, he said.
The body of 35-year-old Umamah has been recovered.
“Umamah’s body was found on the bank of the river, caught in a bamboo groove,” said Dedi, a volunteer searching for the missing victims. The body was found some 500 meters from the site of the accident.
Budi Darmansyah, who coordinated the official task force, said the bridge was 15 meters long, 60 centimeters wide and some six meters above the water.
Search and rescue officials hunting for the missing victims used rudimentary equipment because diving was prohibited by the river’s strong currents, but the Bogor district chief stopped the search in the afternoon.
“I call for the search to be halted temporarily because of the unfavorable weather,” Rahmat Yasin said. He also ordered the bridges in the area to be evaluated for safety.
Hendra, who heads a ward in Cibanteng, said the collapsed bridge had been built in 2004 and believed that the construction was becoming dangerous.
He said that the bridge, which was built by local residents, usually underwent maintenance at least once a year.
