Jakarta, Indonesia. A man from Pamekasan in East Java has gone on trial for allegedly having an affair with his former best friend’s wife.
Khoirul Anwar, 46, alleges Sugianto, 40, began an affair with Kamariyah and impregnated her, news portal Republika.co.id reported.
He said the affair began two years ago after the pair met during a picnic.
The affair continued, with Kamariyah leaving home for a couple of months and did not return until she became pregnant, he said.
Feeling hurt and betrayed, Khoirul lodged a complaint with police against Sugianto for stealing his wife.
During Thursday’s hearing, Khoirul asked Sugianto to swap wives with him as compensation.
“This is a fair, win-win solution for everyone. Kamariyah doesn’t love me anymore. Jamilah [Sugiyanto’s wife] is also disappointed because her husband cheated with my wife,” Khoirul told the court.
Jamilah, who was attending the hearing, smiled at the unusual proposal.
Sugianto and Kamariyah, however, refused to comment and rushed out of the court as soon as the session ended.
