An explosion took place aboard a TransJakarta bus in East Jakarta on Thursday morning, with three people injured in the blast, Metro TV reported.

The bus, plying Corridor IX running from the north to the east, had stopped at a TransJakarta refuelling station (SPBBG) in Pinang Ranti, East Jakarta, when the explosion occurred.

“An explosion occurred at Pinang Ranti’s SPBBG and the cause is still unknown, the incident is still under investigation,” TransJakarta’s management announced on its official twitter account at 9 a.m.

The explosion damaged the bus’s windshield, roof and driver’s side windows, according to Metro TV.

Udar Pristono, head of the Jakarta Transportation Office, said the explosion likely occurred in the bus’s gas tank, but that the trigger was unknown.

The three injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital, he added.
