A 13-year-old girl in Cijantung, East Jakarta, has reported her father to the police for allegedly impregnating her.
The girl, identified only as MO, is currently six weeks pregnant. She told police that her father, Puji, first molested her when she was in fourth grade of elementary school.
She said that since mid-2010, he began molesting her again numerous times at their home until she got pregnant.
MO said she filed a report with the Pasar Rebo precinct police last Thursday, but when they took no action, she told the neighborhood head, Herwandi, about the case.
A mob of angry neighbors then marched on Puji’s house to beat him up, but the police blocked them and detained Puji.
“Puji accused MO’s boyfriend to having impregnated her, but she and her boyfriend met less than a month ago and she’s already one-and-a-half months pregnant,” Herwandi told Wartakota.com.
He added MO’s mother had left home two days ago out of shame. MO claimed her mother had once witnessed the molestation but did nothing.
“She even slept with my father after she saw him raping me,” MO said, adding her mother was angry with her for going to the police.
“She scolded me, saying that this should have been settled within the family,” MO said crying.
“I want the police to process the case but I still love my father. Even though he did this to me, he’s taken care of me since I was a baby. So I hope he’ll only be given a light sentence,” MO told the press as quoted by news portal Detik.com.
MO said she felt sorry after visiting her father at the police’s detention facility on Saturday, hours after he was arrested by the police.
