483154It would be interesting to see the result of a Readers' poll by Jakarta Globe (JG) listing all fifty most influential people deemed to have made a meaningful difference to Indonesia's wellbeing in 2011 and asking JG's readers to answer yes OR no as to whether such individuals have made a positive difference to Indonesia's wellbeing in 2011. And then compare the JG's poll results with GlobeAsia's list.

For former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, pushing for the Indonesian economy to post high growth in the current difficult global conditions boils down to addressing three central issues.
Speaking at an event in Jakarta on “The Arts of Leadership” on Tuesday, Kalla said cutting costly fuel and energy subsidies, continuing bureaucratic reforms and forcing tax dodgers to cough up were what the country needed.
He said he had advised President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to do so consistently.
“Indonesia can grow by more than 6 percent, higher than government expectations, if the government can address these three issues,” Kalla said at the event which was hosted by GlobeAsia, which is a sister publication of the Jakarta Globe.
The event was held to coincide with the launch of the latest edition of the magazine. The new issue carries a list of the country’s 50 most influential people deemed to have made a meaningful difference to Indonesia’s wellbeing in 2011.
Topping the list was Yudhoyono, whom the magazine said was “the face of the nation,” followed by Golkar Party chairman Aburizal Bakrie in second place and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Hatta Rajasa in third. In fourth and fifth places were Vice President Boediono and Constitutional Court Chiarman Mahfud M.D. Kalla himself came in 14th on the list.
